When the Hatteras 50 was introduced in 1969 she was the largest fiberglass production motor yacht in the world, and that held into the 1971/72 53 motor yacht............in fact Hatteras never built a wooden boat from their beginnings in 1959. Here you will find scanned copies of original brochures...reveiws  and artwork relating to the 53 motor yacht and the company that built her North American Rockwell/ Hatteras Yachts, New Burn N.C.

This is an original sales movie made by Hatteras Yachts and North American Rockwell in 1972 (Remember they were also sending rockets to the moon and fighter jets to war at this time)............................to listen to this audio mute cool change.

The "New Desperado"......42 years after 1st launch!tttTTi D

The DESPERADO is a true luxury yacht, with 3 staterooms, 3 heads, galley, large main salon with Natuzzi leather couches. She has 5 flat screen TV's, a 3000 watt 10 speaker CD/Tuner stereo that is equipped with Sirrus sattelite radio and is Ipod/Ipad/Aux compatible. The large forward deck and ultra fun flybridge are ideal for sunning, spotting dolphins and watching the sunset. The flybridge can also be made a "shady" spot with one or two of her custom bimini tops unfolded. DESPERADO is Tampa Bay's only United States Coast Guard Inspected motor yacht certified to carry 24 passengers for hire. There are many commercial boats that call themselves "Yachts" but are in reality just glorified dinner and excursion vessels.DESPERADO while built as a pleasure vessel by Hatteras Yachts, conforms to the stringent rules of the U.S. Vessel Safety Laws concerning safety equipment and stability which are not applied to private charter or pleasure boats. In order to avoid liability, these private charters(bareboat or demise charters) will make you "temporary owner" and transfer this liability to you.
